Gold Star Hamburgers Glendale

Not to be confused with the more popular burger spot, Goldburger, Gold Star is another do-it-all SoCal eatery where you can get pancakes and a B&C in the same sitting.

I'd passed by this place many times before popping in. It sits at the edge of Atwater Village very close to the Forest Lawn Cemetary. We went on a one of those rare gray and rainy LA mornings after picking up a rental car at the Enterprise dealership across the street. We came in looking for a blue plate special diner breakfast, saw they had a B&C on the menu and added it our order for posterity.

It ended up being one of the better B&C's we've had in LA! Amazing beans, the tortilla the right texture and thickness for good structure without the burrito becoming all tortilla. We docked a few points for yellow cheese only (we prefer a mix) but mostly for cheese not being fully melted. I think the solve for this is the same as El Chavo, ask your friendly waitress to pop that baby on the plancha for a few minutes before serving.
