Burritos La Palma has a handle on a good burrito. They have multiple locations across Southern California, have started selling their burritos frozen (Goldbelly, McCall's) and launched a tortilla brand, Mejorado. They're very well known for they're Birria burritos, but we're here for the Bean & Cheese.

First of all, one of the things I love about the La Palma B&Cs is their size. They're on the thinner side as far as burritos go which makes them perfect for handheld enjoyment and every bite is the perfect ratio of bean to cheese to tortilla. Usually I can only handle one B&C but at La Palma, I go for two.
And as far as the tortillas go, these are some of the best we've ever had. Mejorado makes a lot of sense... The beans have a really great viscosity, texture could have been a tad less gritty but it was overall really good. Not too soupy, not too dry and the right amount of cheese to match.
On my most recent trip to La Palma I wanted to taste the difference between their regular bean & cheese which is made with lard and their veggie. We found that the lard had better overall flavor, but was way too salty and left us feeling a bit heavy after eating. The veggie was less heavy, but the beans didn't have the same well-roundedness to them. And finally, the salsa is good but a bit watery - would prefer a green salsa.
Overall, La Palma hits. A great intro to B&Cs if you're new to the journey.
